Kia has picked up two very important accolades at the 2023 Good Design Awards, recognizing attractive design as expressed through the new 'Opposites United' philosophy.
Its 'Opposites United' design philosophy Come on first unveiled in 2021, drawing inspiration from the contrasts that exist in nature and humanity. The philosophy goes beyond the design of the company's vehicles, conveying its determination to move forward harmoniously in two vital fields that have come into conflict with each other, human well-being and environmental sustainability. The innovative design concept was first incorporated in the EV6 and will appear in the company's future range of 15 all-electric models until 2027. In the case of the EV9's design, this is signified by simple, clean lines and surfaces that exude confidence, clarity and calm as and signature 'Digital Tiger Face', offering a distinctly futuristic look and feel.
Its designers Come on sought to give the seven-seater EV9 an unprecedented visual appeal, uniquely harmonizing the agility of an EV with the robustness of an SUV, maximizing space utilization with an attractive profile. They also implemented a robust, yet sophisticated exterior design using the visual symbolism of polygons and triangles.
The EV9's Kia 'Ki' infotainment system emphasizes the brand's identity with an emphasis on the visual concepts of Opposites United. A diagonal line representing upward trends is applied to infotainment elements, from icons and fonts to the instrument panel, as a basic illustration. This diagonal line promotes a distinct and unified look while maintaining clarity and simplicity. The electric vehicle charging and user experience (V2L) is designed to be more intuitive and easy to read with a user interface configuration optimized for a widescreen display, making it easier for users to recognize signal transitions and adjust charging and discharging information. A graphic style has also been revealed that not only aligns with Kia's brand aspirations, but complements the vehicle's design, using eye-friendly, recognizable colors to complete a modern experience for the brand.
