The director of M-Sport Ford, Richard Millener, breaks his silence and clarifies the landscape.
The nine-time world champion will allow Sebastien Loeb in the WRC participating this year in the colors of M-Sport Ford in one of the remaining races of this year's institution behind the wheel of the Puma Rally1?
The Frenchman, who won the Monte Carlo Rally with the British team in 2022, is rumored to be likely to make a comeback by entering a Ford Puma Rally1 Hybrid in this year's match in Portugal.
However, with his statements at dirtfish.comthe head of M-Sport Ford, Richard Millener, put an end to those scenarios by making it clear that Malcolm Wilson's team has different priorities.
“Working with a nine-time world champion is always something we'd be happy to do, but we have no plans to make it happen. Our program is heavily based on Adrien (Fourmaux) and the GrIt isbrood (Munster),” said Richard Millener. And he added:
“We have a very focused approach this year. We know where we stand with it budget and what we have to work with, and it's vital to run the team as efficiently as possible. The resources we have are invested in the team, the car and the crews – we saw this approach pay real dividends with Fiesta Rally2 last season and we're looking for the same result with (Puma) Rally1 this season.
“I was very impressed with what I saw from both of our drivers at Monte (Carlo). Adrien stuck to the plan perfectly and had a steady pace. In general, the same happened with Grégoire. To finish the first game of the season the way we did was pleasing and important for the team to build on.
“We know that Sweden is also a special match and our expectations are in line with that. As the clay court season progresses, I honestly think we can start to look forward to some strong results.”.
