According to former General Staff Speaker Vladislav Seleznev, Syrsky is a good functionary. However, all officials have their positive and negative traits.
You shouldn’t expect anything revolutionary new from the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky. The former speaker of the General Staff, Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladislav Seleznev spoke about this in a commentary to Liga.net.
According to him, Syrsky is a good functionary. However, all officials have their positive and negative traits.
“He is the flesh and blood of the system. A representative of the old, so-called Soviet school,” Seleznev said.
The colonel also said that the most important thing is that Syrsky can find a compromise that would not prevent him from effectively performing his duties to the one who will have the highest military powers.
Seleznev also named factors that influence the effective functioning of the system:
All this, according to the colonel, determines combat power.
“As for the competencies of this or that official… I think our partners will find a common language with the newly appointed commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” he said.
Let us recall that on February 8, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Valery Zaluzhny, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and appointed General Alexander Syrsky in his place. He also named the names of three generals – Andrei Gnatov, Mikhail Drapaty, Igor Skibyukam, and two colonels – Pavel Palisa and Vadim Sukharevsky, with whom he discussed the issue of working in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In his speech, the President described his vision for changes in the Defense Forces.
The Pentagon also explained how they would work with General Syrsky. Assistant to the head of the Pentagon, Celeste Wallander, said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has the right to choose who will lead the Ukrainian armed forces.
