Against the background of the arrival of the newest and most collectible Avenger, Jeep is renewing its previously – before the arrival of the latest – smallest SUV, which already counts a decade of its presence on the market.
The renewal focuses mainly on the digital equipment of the Renegade, which externally maintains its familiar design which, according to Jeep, refers to the Willys archetype, the WWII military vehicle that is the ancestor of all modern models of the brand.
So leaving its classic exterior design intact, the renewal lies in the installation of a new almost double-sized screen for the infotainment which is de facto combined with a 10.25-inch screen for the fully digital instrument panel.
At the same time, the neologisms include a new digital camera for monitoring the surrounding area as well as additional USB ports. The functional Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with which devices are connected wirelessly remain a constant value.
In addition to its size, the new central screen also promises greater clarity and a higher response speed thanks to a new and five times faster processor, while the infotainment is now upgradeable Over-The-Air via a 4G network. At the same time, targeted changes have been implemented in all applications, improving their usability and connectivity.
Where no changes are expected is in the engine range as the Renegade which is now a European exclusive will continue to be available with the familiar mix of engines with mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology.
