MINI began, with the Munich exhibition in the fall of 2023, the unveiling of the new generation of the MINI Cooper, as it is now called, initially presenting the specifications of the electric version, obviously wanting to emphasize the new counterpart.
Now it's time for the crew to complete the puzzle, releasing the figures for the versions with internal combustion engines which will be limited to one fuel, gasoline as the new MINI Cooper will no longer include diesel engines in its options – at least for now .
In more detail, the new model will be available, initially in two engine versions marked by the letters C and the higher performance-oriented S. The first is equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with an output of 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 -100 km/h in 7.7 seconds while the second with a two-liter four-cylinder engine with a power of 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque which reduces the acceleration time for the 0-100 km/h sprint to 6.6 seconds. In the first case, fuel consumption is 6.5 liters/100 km and carbon dioxide emissions are 133 g/km. while the corresponding figures for the most powerful version are determined at 6.1 liters/100 km and 138 g/km.
It goes without saying that in terms of design, it does not hold any surprises in relation to the already known electric version with the new octagonal grille, which is dominated by the new octagonal grille surrounded by the characteristic round lighting bodies of LED technology, which can be customized. Lower on the bumper is the radar system as the new MINI Cooper has a total of 12 ultrasonic sensors that support the operation of safety and assistance systems. Behind the lighting fixtures obey the British flag motif.
Among the interesting elements of the new MINI Cooper, the new round OLED screen with a diameter of 24.0 cm (9.4 inches) has undoubtedly won a place, which performs the role of infotainment and has a digital assistant and all the applications required by a modern four wheeler.
The overall aesthetic exudes minimalism and the familiar sense of emphasis on detail and quality in the playful MINI way while there is no shortage of gadgets such as the inductive charging surface for mobile phones while it is worth noting that all the basic functions from the selection of driving programs to the selection of gears and volume and infotainment settings are made via conventional dials located on an oval surface below the center screen for ease of use and easy access.
In addition, this time the addition of a panoramic sunroof advocates more spaciousness, at least in terms of feeling. In absolute dimensions the luggage compartment can accommodate 210 liters of luggage or up to 725 liters with the rear seats folded down which offer the option of 60/40 split folding.
The new MINI Cooper with gasoline engines will be offered in four equipment levels (Essential, Classic, Favored and JCW) and with the option of choosing 16 to 18-inch wheels as well as two-tone or three-tone for the body.
