2024 holds yet another electric advent for Ford, with the new Puma Gen-E putting the blue oval company in the “field” of compact e-crossovers.
As part of the unveiling of the new Ford Puma two 24 hours ago, the blue oval company also confirmed the arrival within this year of its purely electric variant of its compact crossover.
Following the “big” Mustang Mach-E and the smallest in relation to her Explorer which is expected to be officially launched in Europe around the middle of the year, the new Puma Gen-E comes to complete the palette of the company's purely electric proposals, which will continue in the passenger car segment in 2025 with an SAV version of the Explorer – which is likely to bring the iconic Capri name back to the fore.
Until then, the new Ford Puma Gen-E, unlike the Explorer that will be built in Cologne, at new electrification center of the American company in Germanywill be “born” in its factory Ford Otosan in Craiova, Romania. There, in other words, as the conventional versions of the Ford Puma are manufactured today.
For now Ford has not revealed any information about the Puma Gen-E's technical parchments. However, the first information speaks of the presence of an electric motor that will drive the front wheels with performance at least 136 horsepower.
For electric autonomy, everything indicates that Ford's goal for the new Puma Gen-E is the 400 kilometers with one full charge of the lithium-ion battery. Which will exceed in capacity 50 kWh.
