One document in the wallet will no longer be needed
In recent years, Slovak insurance companies offering car insurance have been switching to electronic communication with clients. They try to motivate their policyholders to agree to this form of correspondence. For example, one of the large insurance companies, Allianz – Slovenská poisťovňa, has been sending green cards to clients online for several years, and currently has approximately 70% of clients with whom it communicates exclusively online.
“For motorists, this number is even higher, as clients usually take out vehicle insurance and travel insurance themselves via the Internet, and therefore we also send them the relevant documentation online. It is important to have a green card available to show when stopped by a police patrol,” explains Allianz spokeswoman Helena Kanderková.
Based on the decision of the Association Council of Bureaux, drivers should have it even easier. In all roughly 50 countries that have joined this organization, it should be enough to prove yourself with a green card in electronic form. This should happen specifically from January 1, 2025.
We evaluate the decision on the obligation to accept the electronic format of the green card as a positive step towards increasing sustainability and environmental protection, the Slovak representative of Allianz said.
