THE This is Wolff was first posted hours after his departure was made official Lewis Hamilton from the Mercedes by the end of 2024.
The Austrian was quick to point out that during this season the team will also face him George Russell which remains, and him Hamilton which leaves in the same way:
“I think what I always do is try as team principal, but also everyone at Mercedes, is to be transparent and fair.
“We owe it to our values and our competitive mentality, to how we approach things, and that's what we'll do now. And I'm sure our drivers will respect it too.
“We want to make sure that it will be a successful season for both our drivers, and for Mercedes, and we will all give our best to achieve that.”
However, he already gave the impression that the Russell intended for no.1 in the Brackley:
“George has the potential to become the new leader of the team. He belongs to the generation of Lando Norris and Leclerc and some others, and I wouldn't want to have another leader when Lewis is gone. There is no doubt about that.
“We have a clear base, with an extremely fast and intelligent man in the car that we have to make the right decision for the 2nd driver, the 2nd place. And that's something we're not going to rush into.”
