It may not have officially seen the spotlight yet, but the new Porsche Taycan seems to be doing great in the range department. Not in theory, but in practice.
In a few days from today, Porsche will present the new Taycanwhich brings a number of overt and “hidden” upgrades (read more here).
One of them is its increased compared to the past possibilities in the field of autonomy. At least this is what its creators claim, who “delivered” four copies to 12 representatives of the automotive press for several days in order to confirm in real conditions of “telling the truth”.
The relevant test took place in the USA, with prototype vehicles of the new Taycan traveling for three days on the highway Interstate Highway 405 and for five days on routes from L. Angeles to San Diego and back.
Top speed in motion was 75mph ie 120 km/h, as required by “local” legislation.
According to Porsche, the maximum real range of the “big” version Performance Battery Plus rose with a charge to 587 kilometers.
During the test, the four Taycans were charged to the grid Electrify America with a maximum effective charging power of more than 300 kW. In these high power DC chargers, the high voltage battery recharge from 10% to 80% took less than 20 minutes.
