The United States of America is coveted market not just for Formula 1, but for the WRCwho wants to expands the public of and outside its narrow framework Europe.
The last time the league visited the country was the 1988 with the Olympus Rallywhich had then been won by Miki Biasion with Lancia Delta HF Integrale.
In recent years, however, it has rekindled their interest Americans for a match WRC on their lands. “When we go to the US, we want to do more than go there and do a rally. We want to have an event that makes an impact, because it's a market that's important, so we don't just want to go there and run.
“We want to make sure it's an event that has sufficient funding but also enough time for testing. We already have great support from both state and regional government. It's just a few pieces of funding that need to be found.”
