Two cases of damaged cars, it looks like climatic vandalism
In one of the districts of Vienna, a luxury car was deliberately damaged again, for the second time this week. Slogans such as “Killing the climate is fun” or “Climate killer” raise the suspicion that the perpetrators are unknown climate rebels. It was not the first similar case that took place in the Austrian capital in recent days.
First, the first vehicle was damaged. The paradox is that it was a hybrid vehicle with an electric motor, the BMW X5 xDrive45e model. Just one day later, another vehicle, this time a Porsche, became the victim of a sprayer attack. It was parked just 20 minutes' walk from the first vandal attack.
The perpetrators are currently unknown, the police have now started an investigation. However, these cases are also highly likely to point to the escalating tension in society regarding climate change – selected groups of environmental activists are crossing the line of what is legal and damaging other people's property. They don't like the emissions that cars cause and point them out in such a way to get attention.
