Greece has been “dressing” in white for the last few hours with the snowfall have already started in several areaswhile within the next few hours it is expected to extend to mountainous and semi-mountainous parts Eastern Thessaly, Central and Eastern Mainland, Northern and Eastern Peloponnese and Evia, in the highlands of the Sporades and in the highlands of Crete.
A few hours ago, by decision of the head of Attica Traffic, it became known that from the evening of Monday 29/1 all cars moving on the road network of Attica they must be equipped with anti-slip means. See in detail what applies by clicking here.
The Police informed the drivers at the same time that they should be constantly updated for the prevailing weather conditions on the road network that will be used.
In this case a very useful information tool is the ROADS app of the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr, which was developed in collaboration with INTERAMERICAN's Anytime.
The application allows the user to have access to weather conditions which are foreseen throughout the Greek road network for the next three dayswith a time step of three hours.
The streets are colored with:
- green color when no effects are expected
- light blue color when rain is expected,
- deep blue color when heavy rain is expected,
- blue color when snow rain is expected and
- purple color when snow is expected
