THE bad weather has already started to “hit” several areas of our country from on the morning of Sunday January 28th“forcing” her National Weather Service to issue, shortly before midnight on Saturday, update of the Emergency Deterioration of Weather Bulletin which he had disclosed about 24 hours ago.

According to the EMY, gradual deterioration the weather will present as two disordersthe first of today Sunday (28-01-24) and the second from noon on Monday (29-01-24) and Tuesday (30-01-24) will affect the country. More intense phenomena will be manifested by the second disturbance.
Main features will be noticeable drop in temperature during the three days Sunday – Tuesday (of the order of 10 degrees Celsius) and the snowfalls mainly in the eastern windward of the country from the height of Thessaly and further south.
At the same time they will prevail stormy northerns in the Aegean and strong rains and storms will occur mainly in the southern sea-coastal sections.
A. Snowfall will occur:
a) Today Sunday (28-01-24) from the morning hours, in the mountains of Macedonia and Thrace, Thessaly, central and eastern Sterea, Evia and the Peloponnese, while in the mid-afternoon hours it will also snow in the mountainous areas of Crete.
b) From the morning hours of Monday (29-01-24) light snowfalls will also continue in areas with a lower altitude of Macedonia and Thrace. Intensity of snowfall is predicted from midday on Monday in Thessaly, the Sporades, eastern and central Sterea, Evia and the northern and eastern parts of the Peloponnese. Snowfall will also occur on the Aegean islands (in the highlands) as well as in the mountainous – semi-mountainous areas of Crete.
Especially for Attica provided intensity of snowfall from Monday afternoon (29-01-24) in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas as well as in areas with a lower altitude than in the evening.
c) On Tuesday (30-01-24) snowfall will continue even in areas with a lower altitude in Thessaly, central and eastern Sterea (including Attica), Evia, the Sporades, the northern and eastern regions of the Peloponnese as well as the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of the islands of the north and eastern Aegean, the Cyclades and Crete.
d) On Wednesday (31-01-24) the snowfalls will gradually weaken and will be limited to the mountains and semi-mountains of Crete.
B. Gusty north northeast winds 8 to 9 and locally 10 Beaufort will blow:
a) From the morning hours of Tuesday (30-01-24) initially in the northern and gradually in the central and southern Aegean.
b) On Wednesday (31-01-24) the stormy north winds will be maintained in the Aegean but from the midday hours in the north they will be limited to 8 Beaufort and will gradually weaken.
C. Heavy rains and storms are predicted from the first disturbance today Sunday (28-01-24) in places in Evia and Crete and mainly from the second disturbance from noon on Monday (29-01-24) until Tuesday (30-01-24) mainly in Sporades, Evia, Cyclades and Crete.
