The beginning of this season WRC done with the -traditional- evening special routes in the Monte Carloof total length 46 kilometers.
The conditions on both routes were non-representative for the race, as they were quite dry, with relatively high temperatures for the season. This caused quite a few problems for most of the top class crews as they had set up their cars for ice and snow, quite a bit 'softer' than needed for purely dry track.
Furthermore, the SS2 started with delay as there were people at unsafe points along the route, which are always filled with eager spectators with flares that turn the night into day.

In the ranking, Elfyn Evans he will go to sleep being a pioneer. The Welshman chose to put on the soft tires and push, while the competition also opted for the Supersoft, which was not the right tire for the conditions.
THE Thierry Neuville he had a problem with the Hyundai i20 N Rally1, the nature of which he did not reveal, hinting that he lost time because of it.
Third was Sebastien Ogierwho kept a good pace despite having two supersoft tires that had already overheated by the end of the course, while also complaining about dirt that had already passed on the road.
It was difficult for Hyundai too There, Tanak to move at a fast pace, which had a problem with the gas from the very first E.D.
From then on, all drivers were one gear behind the top four, as expected based on experience and dynamics.
THE Adrien Fourmaux he kept the M-Sport flag as high as he could with his 5th place so far.
THE Takamoto Katsuta was 6th, keeping comfortably behind him Gregoire Munsterstill finding his feet in his third race with the Ford Puma Rally1.
