According to Alexander Egorov, cracks have appeared in the foundations of the buildings, and rescuers even claim that this cannot be restored. Russia has once again destroyed a civilian infrastructure facility.
On January 23, Russian occupiers attacked peaceful Ukrainian cities with missiles, resulting in damage to the Kiev Lokomotiv sports complex. Director Alexander Egorov, in a commentary to Sport.ua, spoke about the consequences that he had to face.
According to him, that day he had a meeting at 8 am, but he was late for it due to traffic jams, which most likely saved his life. Employees of the State Emergency Service say that the building cannot be restored, because the actions of the Russian Armed Forces caused severe damage to it. Cracks appeared along the foundation.
The office premises and sports facilities are gone, and only the stands, football, volleyball and mini-fields remain intact.
“We have an estimated cost of the buildings. This is about 50 million hryvnia. Electricity and water supply have completely gone down, bomb shelters, gyms and the surrounding area are flooded, among others. Experts are not allowed to work until the explosion experts give permission to those who will clear the rubble and make a full assessment of what's inside, the basements. There's also the issue of financing it all,” said Alexander Egorov.
Separately, he noted that no one imagined that such a disaster could happen. So far there is no information about whether Lokomotiv is subject to restoration under government programs. There will be a decision on this issue in the near future.
By the way, this year the Lokomotiv team was going to celebrate its 105th anniversary, so the day before a major overhaul was carried out, and then such a disaster happened. Athletes' training will take place in the Solomensky district.
“It’s not very pleasant that fans of the Moscow “Lokomotiv” began to write that now only “Lokomotiv” will remain – let them not rejoice. The sports community should react to this, because all their reproaches that they are destroying military infrastructure are a complete lie. We invite all journalists to the location. We are ready to show the premises where our athletes were supposed to train. We do not have any important facilities nearby. The rubbish is simply destroying civilian infrastructure,” summed up Alexander Egorov.
Let us remind you that on January 23 it was reported that training was resumed at the Lokomotiv sports complex in Kyiv after the shelling of the Russian Armed Forces. There were no children in the area at that time, which saved everyone’s lives. Middle school children now study in the hall, which has preserved its walls, windows, roof and electricity.
