The Stellantis Group gives a first taste of the new architecture under development that it is preparing, STLA Large, which is intended from the end of 2026 to host up to eight models, mainly crossovers and mid- and large-sized SUVs across the range of brands that the company has group in its portfolio.
Given the size of the models it is intended to accommodate, the new architecture will premiere in the US with models from Jeep and Dodge, while of course it will also be used in Europe for models from Alfa Romeo and Maserati.
What the Stellantis group also announces is that the STLA Large floor will be available with a 400 or 800 Volt architecture with all that this entails for charging while the maximum possible autonomy will reach 800 km as the batteries that will be integrated will have capacity up to 118 kWh.
It is worth noting, however, that STLA Large, despite its electric targeting, will not be designed exclusively to accommodate purely electric constructions as, according to the announcements, it will also be used with hybrid sets.
The STLA Large is the second platform after the STLA Medium that the Stellantis group has developed with the aim of electrification while there are two more to come, the STLA Small and Frame that will be revealed in the coming years as part of the group’s goal for electrification which envisages full electrification for the European market by the end of the decade and up to 50% electric sales in the US with the same time horizon.
