According to the former British prime minister, the world needs a leader whose willingness to use force and sheer unpredictability will be the main deterrent to the enemies of the West.
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has backed former US President Donald Trump in his bid to return to the White House. According to him, a Republican victory may be what the world needs now, but only if he makes the right choice in favor of Ukraine. Johnson wrote about this in his column for the Daily Mail.
“If he does the right thing and supports the Ukrainians—and I believe he will—a Trump presidency could be a great victory for the world,” Johnson wrote.
Johnson believes the world needs a leader whose willingness to use force and sheer unpredictability will be the main deterrent to the West’s enemies. He is an enthusiast of free markets and capitalism.
The former British prime minister also wrote that Trump was the first US president to defend Ukraine, giving it a Javelin anti-tank missile system back in 2018.
“So to all my noble friends who oppose Trump, I say calm down, guys,” Johnson added.
According to Politico, Johnson began his lobbying activities abroad last year, visiting the US state of Texas to drum up support for Ukraine among leading US conservative figures, including politicians.
It is noted that in the European Union, on the contrary, they fear Trump’s return to the US presidency. Thus, the President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, warned that Trump’s re-election would be a threat to Europe. In addition, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said that Europe will remain on its own in the event of a Trump presidency.
It was previously reported that Trump did not support the border agreement, on which aid to Ukraine depends. The former US president believes that House Speaker Mike Johnson will negotiate “a deal that will be perfect.”
