Anyone who wants to get a good idea of the new models that the automakers are preparing will do well to visit Northern Sweden. Its snowy areas are in the center, with the winter testing of many prototypes to be in progress.
One of them, spotted by our partners, is brand new CUPRA Terramar. Its name comes from the historic track Sitges-Terramar Circuitwith which the company has close ties and is the new, thermal, SUV that will be presented within 2024.
THE CUPRA he had been teasing us about it since the summer of 2022, when he showed it for the first time in Unstoppable Impulse event. From the concept car of that period we arrived in December 2022 to the first production carwhich rolled off its factory line Audi, in Gyor of Hungary and presented to 200 employees.
Terramar will be produced at this facility, along with the Audi Q3with which it will share several parts but also the same platform (MQB-Evo) of VW Group. Its length will be 4,5 m and will have “CUPRA’s DNA”as reported by the company.
Although it could be found “opposite” to Volkswagen Tiguanhas more “aggressive” front sectionwith a wide mask, the characteristic design triangular light fixtures of the brand but also “muscular” lines on the hood. The additional fog lights of the specific prototype, which have been placed on the mask, of course and they will not be preserved.
Our partners could not photograph the interiorbut in some of the shots it can barely be seen part of the digital instrument panel but also the large touch screen of the infotainment system. CUPRA states, however, that the cockpit will be oriented in the driver.
The new Terramar is expected to be available in thermal versionswith engines 1.5 L and 2.0 Lwith mild hybrid technologywhile there will also be PHEV versions. After all, the specific prototype we are presenting today is plug-in hybridas seen from charging port on the front left wing.
CUPRA has emphasized that the purely electric range of the specific versions will reach the 100 km. Terramar will be available as front-wheel drive and four-wheel drivewhile all versions are expected to have 7-speed automatic transmission (DSG).
The European presentation of the new CUPRA Terramar expected to take place in Septemberwhile in our country estimated to “arrive” towards the end of 2024.
