The air raid raid lasted more than two hours. Russian UAVs attacked the northern regions of Ukraine.
On the evening of January 12, Russian troops launched another kamikaze drone attack on Ukrainian cities. So, at 21:18 the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported a threat in the Sumy region.
“The flight of the Shaheds through the Sumy region in the direction of the Chernihiv region,” the message from 21:23 said.
Later, the alarm was declared in the Poltava region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the drones were flying towards Mirgorod.
Already at 22:41 an air raid alert was announced in the Kyiv region.
Later it became known that Russian drones were located in the Velikopisarevsky district of the Sumy region.
Air defense work in Kyiv
After 23:00 an air raid alert was sounded directly in the capital.
“The air raid alert in Kyiv is related to the threat of the use of UAVs,” the Kyiv City Military Administration said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported at 23:22 that kamikaze drones were in the northern part of the Kyiv region and changed course in the direction of Irpen.
At 23:40, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, announced that air defense forces were working in the vicinity of the capital.
“Explosions in the vicinity of the capital. Air defense is working,” he wrote.
At 23:52, the Air Force announced the all clear due to the activity of Russian kamikaze drones.
Previously, ISW analysts reported that the Russian Federation has accelerated the production of drones and can now attack Ukraine more often. According to experts, the current stockpile of drones, missiles and production rates probably do not allow the Russian Federation to conduct regular massive attacks.
