Japanese brand announces the addition of a new model of electric technology to the range of performance versions of the Nismo series, giving to the public an extremely laconic and dark teaser without at the moment revealing what it is about.
All it clarifies is that the premiere of the model in question will take place on January 12 at the Tokyo show where Nissan will also present new Nismo versions of the Z and GT-R as well as a prototype version of the X-Trail with its adventurous features highlighted and the name Crawler.
Despite the silence of the Japanese brand, the silhouette captured in the relevant teaser as well as previous, recent spy shots advocate the unveiling of a Nismo version of the Ariya.
Based on the related spy shots, the electric model will get a sharper bodykit, with redesigned bumpers, side air intakes, more distinct aerodynamic elements such as a spoiler on the rear door, an aerodynamic diffuser and red details. The picture will be completed by a set of 20-inch Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires, specially designed for high-performance electric models.
Modifications are also expected in the suspension for the benefit of a more dynamic road behavior, while the presence of an upgraded version of the e-4ORCE set consisting of two electric motors, which in its most powerful version known so far produces 394 hp and 600 Nm of torque should be considered a given. Although at the moment no information has been released in relation to the increase in power, however, this will be brave data if Nissan and Nismo want to look in the eyes of models such as Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N, KIA’s EV6 GT, the Tesla Model Y and the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT which all make between 500 and 600 horsepower.
