For citizens of other countries traveling to Slovakia, for example, it will be mandatory to either have a visa or pay a fee within the ETIAS system before departure. Brussels promises that such an approach will help improve our security and protect against the risks of illegal migration.
Border controls will check whether citizens have a permit
It will be irrelevant how the affected travelers decide to cross the EU border – whether by car, plane, train or otherwise, the obligation to pay the fee will not be waived. And of course, the system must evaluate that you meet the conditions for entering one of the EU countries. However, Brussels expects that in 95 percent of cases the ETIAS authorization will be granted without any problems within a few minutes.
You apply for it online, Euro officials promise that filling out the form shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes. A fee of 7 euros will be required for each person from 18 to 70 years of age. It will be valid for an unlimited number of border crossings in a period of three years. At the border crossing, you must prepare to check the confirmation that you have passed the ETIAS check.
