A NEW POLITICAL HEAVYWEIGHT HAS APPEARED
Who is talking about what, and the political analyst is about politics.
For me, an important political result of the year was the emergence of a new potential leader in Ukraine – Valery Zaluzhny.
I’m not sure that this is Zaluzhny’s conscious position; it may well be that basically it develops almost on its own. But this does not change the essence. Moreover, the commander-in-chief himself does not confirm his political ambitions, but does not really deny them either.
Adding to the intrigue is the fact that purely political technological maneuvers are being observed around Zaluzhny. In particular, sociological studies that show its high rating. Professionals are well aware that such research is also a tool: potential voters are automatically drawn to highly rated people, begin to involuntarily estimate their future chances, and all that.
Interviews, especially to foreign media, are also a common tool for politicians. Because it is a lever of social influence.
At the same time, such a promising leader is beginning to be considered as a possible partner. For example, I absolutely understand the interest in Valery Zaluzhny on the part of the political force of Petro Poroshenko. Because it fits perfectly, without tension, into the concept of returning the former president to power.
There are also some pretty strange things. For example, the election of Zaluzhny as hetman of Ukraine or the naming of a star after him. I don’t know why this is necessary, apparently, someone wants to attract attention to themselves in this way – either Zaluzhny himself, or those around him. But to paraphrase a well-known expression: “If stars are named, it means someone needs it.”
One way or another, now in Ukraine there are two Valery Zaluzhnys: one is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the second is an actual political figure. And therefore his responsibility doubles. As commander-in-chief, he is responsible for the course of military operations to repel the aggressor. As a politician, he bears additional responsibility not only for his public actions and words, but also for the actions and words of those around him and even his supporters. You may not like it, but it cannot be otherwise.
The same axiom is that in due time Valery Zaluzhny will have to decide whether to remain a military man or become a politician. I hope that this determination will take place this year.
The war against a cruel and powerful enemy – the Russian sub-empire – carries great risks for the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But as a specialist, I am convinced that the political path is associated with even greater risks – this is the attitude of society to the inevitable mobilization, and the emergence of political opponents with their opposition, and many other things, partly frankly dirty, with which, unfortunately, modern Ukrainian politics is saturated .
