After a long wait Dacia presented the third generation of the popular Duster the last days of November. The design ushers the model into a new era with a more… squared-off approach that it has come from from the Bigster concept, while also having advanced four-wheel drivemore sustainable materials but also hybrid powertrains.
The first reactions for the appearance of the new Duster were positivehowever, now all fans of the Romanian brand are waiting the model to enter the exhibitions in order to know its price. However, information has already appeared that you can read about here.
There are also important changes in the media system about which he spoke in detail in largus.fr the Betty Wendling Gingreauhead of Dacia’s Launch Operations department.
As we already know, the new Duster will be available in 4 equipment versions: Essential, Expression, Extreme and Journey. In the first we have an analog instrument panel where in its center there is a small 3.5 inch TFT screen which displays some basic information, mainly from the trip computer.
Right next to it there is one factory base to mount the mobile phone of the driver, as is the case in the current versions of the Jogger and Sandero. In this case the mobile takes over the role of the multimedia system by using the application Dacia Media Control. The connection is via Bluetooth and access is provided to phone apps (music, navigation, etc.) while connected and with the car speakers.
From the edition Expression appears on the dashboard a 10.1-inch touchscreen; which has an angle of 10 degrees to the driver and replaces it the 8-inch screen we saw on the 2the generation of Duster. This screen gives the driver access to the following functions: phone, audio system, navigation and vehicle settings. It is worth noting that the display panel is not made of polycarbonate but made of glass to be more resistant to scratches.
The monitor is available with two types of systems. The first is the Media Display for the Expression version that allows wireless reproduction of smartphone functions such as navigation, via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The second is the Media Nav Live for publications Extreme and Journey with built-in navigation that updated free of charge for 8 years, while providing road traffic information in live time. This particular system is combined with 3D sound system which consists of 6 Arkamys speakers.
Finally, we should note that software updates to the top two versions are done Over-The-Air and so the owners of the new Duster will not need to go to a dealership to “load” them.
