The video of the subject offers us a journey through time, as it puts us on the Porsche production line and shows us in every detail how its cars were manufactured in 1986.
At the moment everything goes through computers and robots, production lines when we refer to large factoriesit is difficult to imagine that once the process assembling a car were done by hand.
THE Porsche on this video takes us back several years to show us how her – largely – hand-built cars were made. So let’s go to 1986in another era of the car, where man was higher than machines and more things passed through his hands until the final result was produced.
The video is the product of an American visitor to the Porsche factory in Germany in 1986, as we mentioned above. It saw the light of day in 2022 on YouTube and the tasturbo86 channel by a man who at the time bought a 911 and chose to receive it from Germany.
So he was there for a factory tour. In the 20 minute video is presented production process, the staff, but also the manufacture of engines, flat 6 cylinders and V8. Also the assembly of the cars and the tests they did on the dynamometer.
A beautiful human-centered process followed by Porsche up to the 993 generation of the 911 in the late 90s. The high production costs had financial consequences for Porsche which reached the brink of bankruptcy. In the 996 generation of the 911 things went into the “hands” of robots, thus reducing production costs and together with models like the Boxster and Cayenne gave Porsche the impetus to become the giant we know today.
