Here in Car and Driver we often present digital creations of independent designers with impressive cars, which most of the time they stay on a computer’s hard drive and they never come true.
However, today’s story is one of the rare ones since rendering by designer Ash Thorpwho inspired the last Batmobile which appeared in the movie “The Batman”, became a real car which it is fully functional.
Thorp has edited several digital designs to this day, however that which… broke the pomegranate and became a reality is one impressive Datsun 240Z. This particular model is in between of classic ‘Made in Japan’ carsone of the most important sports models of the global automotive industry, while it is considered the generator of all Nissan sports.
Although used as a base, ο Thor and the design company Make Haste Corp with which he worked, they made sure to intervene at several points in order to obtain the car even more imposing imagebut also to come closer in today’s motoring data. As for the second, it was removed the 6-cylinder in-line 2.4 L engine and in its place was installed the electric motor of the Tesla Model S that performs 400 horsepower.
Externally they stand out full carbon bodythe large hood air intake, the absence of mirrors which have cameras installed in their place to transfer the image to the driver, the special ones wheel covers but also the excessively large diffuser at the rear.
Finally, inside there is almost nothing reminiscent of a Datsun 240Z. The steering wheel is a yoke type, the seats are split from a high and square console while behind the steering wheel has been placed digital instrument panel.
