A special story revealed some time ago by Skoda, starring a model of her that was sold before for three decades in Greece. It is a white one Skoda Favorite which until a few months ago he had barely written on his odometer 34 kmthe distance covered the female driver to transfer it in 1993 from the delegation until shared underground garage near her house.
As Skoda reports, at that exact moment the driver realized that she was not ready to go out on the roads and for the next three decades the car remained stationary. So today it is, with the confirmation of Skoda, the best preserved Favorit on the planet.
A merchant in Greece some time ago discover the Czech “treasure” in the underground garage of Athens and as soon as he learned his story he decided to put it up for auction. The news reached the ears of 36-year-old Czech Jirí Micánek Jr., son of racing driver Jirí Micánek which had achieved important distinctions in its events then Czechoslovakia and Eastern Europe.
«My parents had a Favorit for daily commuting and my dad used it in his racing academy in the early 90’ssaid the Use trying to explain the reason why interested in the car.
When the auction started Jiri succeeded with his offers to reach the final stage and there he found himself “dueling” with a fellow countryman, Boris Vaculik. At that moment the two got on the phone and revealed what each other’s “ceiling” was so they wouldn’t keep raising the price.
So Jiri demonstrated in practice that he wanted the white Skoda Favorit more and managed to make it his own for 24,000 euros, an amount six times greater than the money the first owner paid to get it from the Greek dealership. Skoda notes that once inflation is taken into account, today’s price is almost equivalent to the original market.
After about two months the Skoda Favorit left by transport from Greece and returned again to his country to surrender to the new owner. The car may have been immobilized for 30 years, however in some places there were small bumpsespecially on the doors, from other cars that they maneuvered through the underground garage.
Nevertheless, even today the seats have plastic covers of the dealership while the floor mats are covered with cardboards that say “cleanliness is half nobility». The car belongs to generation after the 1993 facelift and is the LX version.
On the side it has stickers while inside there is wood paneling on the dashboard and the instrument panel instead of a tachometer has a huge clock with hands. Under the hood is one petrol engine 1.3 lt which was developed in Mladá Boleslav and delivers 54 PS.
The new owner took Favorit into his hands and proceeded with all of them necessary maintenance work (oils, battery, filters, etc.) and then drove it for 3 km. which were added to the original 34 km.

Jiri speaking to the Skoda people made it clear what his goal is to keep Favorit in this state as long as he can and has no intention of taking it out on the street. He wants to keep it as a souvenir which will remind him and his descendants his family’s racing history.
