Above all, however, the new road fundamentally relieved the residents of Mýtná and Lovinobana from the thousands of cars and hundreds of trucks that passed through their villages every day.
“The average daily intensity on the section R2 Mýtna – Lovinobaňa, Tomášovce for the year 2023 represented more than 8,600 vehicles. More than a fifth were trucks. On weekdays, up to 9,300 cars used the road on average,” said Peter Biroš, an expert in the processing of traffic data of the National Highway Company.
The diversion of passenger and freight traffic away from the inner city has resulted in greater safety for the residents of the villages, as well as for the motorists themselves. Before the opening of the section, up to 80% of the total number of vehicles was transit traffic, i.e. vehicles only passed through villages. The connected section significantly increased the comfort of the residents of Mýtná and Lovinobane.
