The elderly driver started by entering in reverse on Vasilissis Sofias, violated any traffic light he found in front of him and arrived in Pallini, where he was arrested.
To risk the lives of drivers, passers-by, his own and the policemen who were chasing him, an elderly driver decided last Sunday, who started his incredible journey entering Vasilissis Sofias backwards, “burning” every traffic light he found in front of him in order to did not stop at the signal of the authorities and reached Pallini where he was arrested. The 75-year-old driver thought it was reasonable to ignore the officers, started riding on sidewalks, running traffic lights, swerving into other streets and ignoring the officers’ calls to stop.
After entering Kolonaki and Ampelokipos, he took Mesogeion and entered the Attiki Odos, to finally exit to Pallini, where he was arrested. The downside for him is that his decision to play Gran Turismo in Athens will cost him dearly. In the context of the traffic control, he was confirmed with traffic violations for driving under the influence of alcohol, violation of a red signal, driving in the opposite direction on a one-way street, violation of a double dividing lane, etc. and administrative fines totaling 12,560 euros were imposed on him. In addition, he was disqualified from driving for more than three years (i.e. 1,160 days), given 175 points on the SESSO, the vehicle’s registration details (licence and number plates) were withdrawn for 400 days and the vehicle was impounded. Furthermore, the prescribed procedure and notification of the competent authorities will be followed, in order to remove his driving license for life.
