Wladimir Kaminer doesn’t have it easy. In general, because the writer, who has been living in Berlin for almost 25 years, was born in Moscow, became famous with his first collection of short stories “Russendisko” and, given the currently tense German-Russian relations, finds himself unintentionally caught in the middle. Currently, because like so many people, he has problems with Christmas – which in Russia isn’t celebrated until two weeks later anyway.
The 56-year-old always took and takes all of this with humor. In his many books, including the recently published “Breakfast on the Edge of the Apocalypse”, in his radio column “Wladimir’s World”, in his cinema section “Kaminer’s Cinema” in the epd movie or in appearances such as in the music video for Deichkind-Song “Straight Ahead”. He is a regular guest at reading and cabaret stages, and after a long time he is now once again a guest at the comedy theater with “Kaminer’s Christmas”. With a Christmas reading, but a special kind. In which he takes his very own funny look at the “most wonderful time of the year” that is once again completely unexpectedly just around the corner.
