The recommendation of the Committee to ensure universal access of Persons with Disabilities and reduced mobility to MMMs is signed.
In the final stage is the recommendation of the Commission for the study and taking of the necessary measures in order to ensure universal access of Persons with Disabilities and reduced mobility in Public Transportincluding the CAB and of KTEL.
An announcement made on Friday, December 15, by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transportresponsible for Transport, Christina Alexopoulouduring her speech at an event of the Panhellenic Association of the Blind.
The Deputy Minister made it clear that the Government wishes to create such structures in Transport, where citizens will be equal among equals.
In her statement, Mrs. Alexopoulou recalled the recent Ministerial Decision, according to which the compensations are increased (from 150 to 3,000 euros) for the unimpeded transport for the disabled, both by private transport companies and by Public Transport Agencies. “We are raising, in other words, a ‘shield of protection’ against phenomena of social exclusion, applying the logic of the ‘soft law’ (soft law), in an alternative approach aimed at producing quick results”, he added.
Finally, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport pledged that the Ministry of Infrastructure will be next to People with Disabilities, continuing the reforms aimed at improving and making transport safer for everyone.
