A British intelligence report states that the Russian Airborne Division suffered exceptionally heavy losses in early December 2023 and was unable to achieve its goals during its “combat debut.”
Russian airborne troops suffered heavy losses in the Kherson region. We are talking about the newly formed 104th Guards Division. This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense in Twitter December 14.
The report states that the Russian Airborne Forces division suffered exceptionally heavy losses in early December 2023 and was unable to achieve its goals during its “combat debut” in the Kherson region. Thus, the division joined the group of invaders that tried to drive Ukrainian troops out of the village of Krynki on the left bank of the Dnieper. However, the 104th Division performed poorly, as most of the troops were inexperienced. In addition, it was not sufficiently supported by aviation and artillery.
The UK Ministry of Defense said that after this incident, many Russian military officers called on the commander of the Dnepr Group of Forces, Colonel General Mikhail Teplinsky, to resign.
“This is a blow to Teplinsky’s reputation as one of the most capable Russian field commanders of the war: in his day-to-day role, he is also the commanding general of the Airborne Forces,” the report said.
Let us remind you that Ukrainian marines showed how they stop Russians near Krynki in the Kherson region. Marines are engaged in shooting battles with Russians in a wooded area on the left bank of the Dnieper, shown in a video from the 38th Brigade. They also operate with drones, reaching the enemy at a distance of several kilometers.
