The United Nations has sent a clear message to Israel. 153 countries voted in favor of a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza at a special session of the U.N. General Assembly later Tuesday in New York. Ten countries voted against, 23 abstained, including Germany. The resolution is not legally binding. Israeli UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan announced in an emotional speech to the body that his country would not respect the resolution because a ceasefire would mean nothing other than the continued existence of the terrorist organization Hamas.
