Back in 2022, the drone “showed up” in the victorious liberation battles in the Kharkov region. He later helped train new operators, and is now again flying on one of the hottest sectors of the Southern Front.
The Autel drone has been helping the Defense Forces destroy Russian occupiers for more than a year and a half. Now he is “fighting” on one of the hottest sections of the Southern Front, in the unit of the defenders of the Donetsk airport. This was reported by the online publication “Cossack Region” on Facebook.
According to the information in the note, this drone was sent to Cherkassy volunteers in 2022 from Canada. Later he was transferred to one of the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“In the unit where he is fighting, they consider him a kind of “amulet” – not only the drone is alive, but also everyone for whom he has become an “iron brother,” the message notes.
The battle between the sides: how the rivalry between Russia and Ukraine in the field of UAVs will end
The media also notes that there is a difference of more than a year and a half between the photographs attached in the note, and the Autel combat drone in them is the same. Volunteers from Cherkassy have been involved in this unit since 2014, since the defense of Donetsk airport.
As noted in the note, back in 2022 the drone “distinguished itself” in the victorious liberation battles in the Kharkov region. Later he was “on rotation” – he helped in training new operators at the training center and at the training ground.
Now, as the publication clarifies, Autel is again “fighting” on one of the hottest sections of the Southern Front.
When drones surpass artillery: a military response
In August, the State Service for Special Communications said that the Defense Forces lose from 40 to 50 drones of various types per day, which are used for reconnaissance. A significant problem for defenders is Russian electronic warfare.
Let us recall that on December 7, an artillery gunner said that next year, 2024, unmanned aerial vehicles could become the main means of destruction at the front. According to him, Ukraine and Russia have entered into a “war of technology”, and in 2024 the role of unmanned weapons will only increase. As a result, there will be more and more unmanned aerial vehicles of a wide variety of nature.
The artillery gunner explained to reporters that several types of drones are now working at the front on the side of the Ukrainian military. First of all, these are FPV drones, in the design of which our country has achieved success. The Mammoth unmanned aerial vehicle, which can carry up to 4 kilograms of explosives, is already operating in the combat zone. Also, Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters use foreign developments in the field of UAVs.
Earlier in Zaporozhye they created a new kamikaze drone for the Ukrainian Armed Forces called “General Chereshnya”. 20 such drones are already being tested by the military, which perform combat missions in the Zaporozhye direction.
