Intensive traffic controls were carried out in the Region of Crete, from 3 to 9 December. In these, 7,847 checks were carried out on vehicles and 1,761 violations were confirmed.
In the context of targeted actions and actions, for the prevention of traffic accidents and the safe movement of vehicles and citizens, were carried out during the period from 03.12.2023 until 09.12.2023 traffic controls in the region of Crete. The purpose of the controls is to upgrade the level of road safety for citizens. Specifically, extensive traffic checks were carried out on vehicles and drivers, in various areas of Crete, where they were checked in total 7.847 vehicles and confirmed 1.761 violations, as follows:
Not using a protective helmet 96
Not using a seat belt 69
Driving under the influence of alcohol 50
Mobile phone use 35
Traffic in the opposite stream 48

It is recalled that the correct road behavior of road network users and the observance of road traffic rules are basic conditions, both for safe movement and for the avoidance of traffic accidents. We must not forget that road safety is everyone’s business.
