The Munich police ended a suspected hostage situation on Saturday afternoon and freed a woman who was probably being held captive in a hotel from the power of her kidnapper. The man was arrested. A police spokesman confirmed late in the afternoon: “There was a police operation and an arrest.” He did not want to give further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
According to information from the SZ, the police operation took place in a hotel in the east of Munich, on Zamdorfer Straße, near the A94 motorway to Passau. The man is said to have kidnapped the woman abroad and then brought her to Munich; Apparently there was also a ransom demand. The relationship between the man and the woman is not yet known. According to the SZ information, it could be a marriage or divorce drama. A SEK unit is also said to have been involved in the police operation; Apparently no one was injured.
