Very often, appearances are deceptive. Many cars are not what they show, hiding under their body a completely different… character. It’s about replicasthat is, vehicles that take on the appearance of an iconic – most of the time – model, with their base being more “conventional,” ordinary or cheap.
This category also includes BMW Z3which “plays” one Ferrari 250 GT California Spider. THE 250 GT constitutes a rare and expensive creation of the Italian car industry, whose price can often exceed even 20 million dollarsUnlike Z3which is considerably more affordable.
Many parts manufacturers create “transformation” kit for such ventures, but no one it cannot fool a real connoisseur. Bodywork can be easy enough, but the “art” of kits goes much further.
To get even closer to the desired result, the wheels, the seats, the inner door panels and the signature BMW dashboard they must be replaced with others, similar to those of the 250 GT. This is quite a one costly processwhich the owner of this one managed to complete BMW Z3.
The car enthusiast from Florida, USA also replaced the engine, choosing one 7.0L LS7 V8which comes from one Corvette Z06 and it pays off 507 PS. Apart from that, the interior of the vehicle has also been approached pretty close to the look of the original 250 GT.
What makes a big impression is the fact that the creator placed the original next to the “camouflaged” 250 GT, comparing the two models. The there are actually quite a few similarities and the first glance is deceiving. But it doesn’t take long to realize that the second vehicle (the one we see on the right in the main photo) is the one with the kit.
But what are the most obvious differences? Starting with them wheelsthe placement seems wrong, as if it doesn’t fit that is, while the windows extending from the windshield on the side of the vehicle, betray the identity of the “donor”. Inside, the zones and ventilation ducts of the heating system “they take out an eye,” while there is one Digital Clockwhich shouldn’t be there.
Of course, this particular venture is worthy of congratulations, since it is a cheap option, with almost twice the power of original 250 GT.
