Cupra will partner with the 37th America’s Cup, one of the world’s biggest sporting events. For the first time the world of sailing is making Barcelona its home and it is expected to be an exciting event.
The start of this collaboration started in La Barceloneta – Barcelona’s seafront area – where the brand unveiled the ‘Cupra Cube’. The innovative countdown timer in collaboration with Omega highlights the claim “Two dreams. A countdown”. Once the timer hits zero, it will not only signal the start of the Cup but will also present the first images of the new Cupra Terramar, the Official Car of the event.
As a Global Partner, the Cupra will have a significant presence throughout the event, connecting with sailing fans and strengthening its profile worldwide. “At Cupra, we believe our hometown is the perfect place to host the America’s Cup and become the epicenter of the sport globally,” said Wayne Griffiths, Cupra CEO. “As a sports brand, we are proud to sponsor major international events, which match our values and ambitions and inspire the world from Barcelona. This is also a unique opportunity to remember that unforgettable spirit of the Olympic Games in 1992, with a truly international event, which will show the bright side of this city” he added.
Next year the event – for the first time in the history of the competition – will also present the Puig America’s Women’s Cup. This initiative aims to provide female sailors with a unique opportunity to showcase their potential and talents in a high-level competition. In addition, the Youth America’s Cup for competitors under the age of 25 will provide an opportunity to highlight new talent. By sponsoring the 37th America’s Cup, Cupra wants to support sports and inspire the next generation.
The America’s Cup is a race in which there is no second place. You either win or you lose. It started in 1851 and has worldwide appeal. Its purpose is to combine performance with innovation, characteristics that are deeply connected to its DNA Cupra. The event will take place around PortVell – the port of Barcelona – and along the marina at Port Olympic.
