The Ukrainian took his family out of Kyiv and mobilized, but later his wife also joined the army. For the last six months, a man has been recovering from an injury and supporting his military lover via video link.
The National Rehabilitation Center “Nezlamni” told the story of a defender who fought near Bakhmut and has been fighting for his life for six months now. This is known from the organization’s publication on social networks.
46-year-old Vyacheslav Alexandrov is originally from Krivoy Rog, but in the last years before the start of a full-scale war he lived in Kyiv. He worked as a foreman in a construction company.
“As soon as the big war began, he took his daughter and wife out of the capital, and he went to the military registration and enlistment office,” the rehabilitation center reported.
So Alexandrov ended up in the ranks of the 17th separate Krivoy Rog tank brigade.
While he was fighting, his wife Svetlana volunteered, cooking for the defenders. However, subsequently, seven months after her husband’s mobilization, she also decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine and became a military cook.
“I reacted calmly to this, because at first she supported me, and why then can’t I support my wife? I know that her decision is the right one,” said Alexandrov.
The couple spent almost a year together on the front line, but in different units and in different directions.
On June 9 of this year, Alexandrov, together with his brothers-in-arms, came under mortar fire from the Russian Armed Forces. This happened during the capture of positions in the Bakhmut direction.
“I heard a whistle and immediately realized that a mine was flying. I only had time to shout: “Get down!” There was an explosion and I felt a blow to my arm and leg,” he recalled.
The defender put a tourniquet on his affected leg. After that, he was forced to crawl several kilometers across the field to the evacuation point. At this time, the man was attacked from a drone. None of the ammunition hit the target.
Aleksandrov made it out alive, but the tourniquet stayed on his limb for too long. The man lost his leg, and his wounded arm was in danger of amputation.
“In order for the defender to survive, doctors had to put him in an artificial coma for several weeks,” noted the rehabilitation center.
The warrior has been undergoing treatment for six months. During this time, surgeons managed to overcome the infection in his leg and remove the shrapnel from his arm. However, the rescued hand stopped moving.
“The muscles don’t work at all,” the organization explained.
Due to problems with his arm, Aleksandrov cannot have a prosthetic leg installed, because he must take his first steps on crutches with the help of his hands. Now specialists work with him every day, and it is producing results. The functions of the disobedient limb were restored by 30%. Now the defender can hold light objects.
The wife of a military man serves in the Zaporozhye direction and sees her husband only through a screen – via video link.
“Of course, I’m worried about her, but I’m sure everything will be fine,” the warrior said.
Let us remind you that soldiers of the assault regiment “Tsunami” of the National Police Brigade “Lyut” showed footage of the evacuation of a wounded soldier from the battlefield.
A Ukrainian soldier returned to his brothers when he was considered dead. The man wandered through the forest for more than two days and survived thanks to worms in his wounds.
