According to Mike Pompeo, no matter what agreement is reached at the end of the war, the attack on Ukraine cannot be allowed to happen again.
After Russia’s war against Ukraine ends, the security architecture that would prevent the next aggression may be different. This was stated by former US Secretary of State and ex-head of the CIA Mike Pompeo in an interview with Radio NV.
According to him, no matter what agreement is reached at the end of the war, the attack on Ukraine cannot be allowed to happen again.
Pompeo noted that after the end of World War II, a certain set of principles, rules and ideas were formulated that helped keep peace in Europe for decades. If everything is done correctly, peace will continue for a long time even after the end of the current war in Ukraine.
“I agree that the security architecture must be sufficient to ensure that no matter what agreement is reached at the end of this conflict, we can all be confident that it will not happen again,” Pompeo said.
Let us recall that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said when Ukraine will join the Alliance. According to him, this will happen when the necessary reforms are carried out. All allies are convinced that Ukraine’s NATO membership in the midst of war is impossible, even as rapprochement continues.
The media also reported that Denmark would increase spending on assistance to Ukraine in order to reach the spending target for NATO. According to journalists, Copenhagen will increase military funding to the Ukraine Fund by 2.3 billion kroner ($340 million) in 2023.
