Alpine’s Esteban Ocon set the fastest time on the final day of Formula 1 for 2023 in the one-day testing after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
In the one-day event which was also a tire test Pirelli and testing new drivers, the impressions were divided among the drivers of this year’s grid such as Esteban Ocon, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, George Russell, but also several of the rookies. Formula E champion Jake Dennis and new F2 champion Theo Pourchaire were among the runners-up. On a largely uneventful day, the only incidents were a brief delay due to a water leak under the hotel, while Russell dropped too far in the unofficial final standings after a component failure in the W14 (the car everyone at Mercedes wants forget). Also unlucky was Isack Hadjar, in AlphaTauri, where a suspected engine failure interrupted the attempt. Esteban Ocon clocked 1:24.393 for the fastest time, with Carlos Sainz leading the morning session.
