A unique collection of ancient artifacts called “Scythian Gold” has finally arrived in its historical homeland – Ukraine. The priceless cargo was delivered by a Volvo FH 420 truck equipped with a refrigerated body from the German company Speiser GmbH. Treasures were transported in compliance with a certain temperature regime.
And this is 565 items: ancient sculptures, Scythian and Sarmatian jewelry, dishes and much more. Their age dates back to the 5th century BC. e – 1st century AD. This entire collection is estimated at 10 million euros. “Scythian gold” was delivered to the Treasury of the National Museum of History of Ukraine, located on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, where customs officers will identify the valuables.
Let us note that the collection of artifacts called “Scythian Gold” was at one time kept in four Crimean museums: the Bakhchisarai and Kerch historical and cultural reserves, the Central Museum of Taurida, as well as the National Reserve “Tauric Chersonesos”.
In 2013, the treasures were taken to an exhibition at the Dutch Allard Pearson Museum. After the occupation of Crimea, Russia decided to appropriate the “Scythian Gold”. The trial dragged on for many years. And in the fall of 2021, the Amsterdam District Court made a final decision on the transfer of a unique collection of national importance to Ukraine.
