It became known who made it to the top ten finalists of the national selection for Eurovision 2024
This year’s Junior Eurovision took place in Nice at the Nikaya Palace and 16 European countries took part in it, including Ukraine. Our country was represented at the competition by 9-year-old Anastasia Dimid, who sang the song “Kvitka”. The composition was written in two languages: partly Ukrainian and partly English, and was written by Ukrainian singer Svetlana Tarabarova.
The jury gave the artist 45 points (9th place), and the audience rated the Ukrainian application at 83 points (3rd place). As a result, Ukraine showed one of its best results since 2018 and took 5th place.
The winner of the competition was again France and its 13-year-old representative Zoë Closure with the song “Cœur”. She won both according to the results of voting by the jury and the audience, ultimately gaining 228 points.
This is the third victory for France in the 21-year history of the competition. For the first time, the crystal microphone was received in 2020, then at the 2022 competition in Armenia, and now again, but in his native country.
Spain took second place with a score of 201 points, and Armenia took third place with 180 points. Ireland took last place with a score of 42 points, thereby receiving the worst result during its participation.
Traditionally, the winning country has the right to host next year’s competition, but whether France will want to host Junior Eurovision for the second year in a row is still unknown. If a refusal is received, then others have the chance to hold events, as was the case in 2023 with the adult competition.
Ukraine won Eurovision 2022, but due to the active phase of the war they were unable to organize it. The competition was held in the British city of Liverpool, because it was Britain that finished second that year.
Let us remind you that on September 21 it was reported that a scandal had unfolded around the jury of the national selection for Junior Eurovision 2023. The jury was selected using the “Diya” application, but the results of the voting outraged many. The top three looked like this: Igor Kondratyuk (28.16%), singer Jerry Heil (24.93%) and rapper Alyona Alyona (20.91%).
