According to SBU Colonel Roman Kostenko, the Russians began to mine the entire occupied left-bank part of the Dnieper, since they understand the strategic importance of the southern direction for both sides.
Colonel of the Security Service of Ukraine Roman Kostenko said that the breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye direction will begin the countdown to the loss of the Russian Federation. He spoke about this on the air of the telethon.
According to him, the enemy is trying to interfere with the plans of the Ukrainian defenders and therefore mined the entire left-bank part of the Dnieper, which they managed to occupy.
The reason is that the Zaporozhye direction is a strategic direction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation this territory is a strategic defense.
“The breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye direction may begin the countdown of the loss of the Russian Federation. If the Armed Forces of Ukraine interrupt the Russians’ supply routes, logistics, if we advance into the Berdyansk and Melitopol corridor, take control of the routes, then this will mean the end for the enemy. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will gradually squeeze the Russians out of the occupied territories south,” Roman Kostenko stressed.
In addition, on the left bank of the Dnieper, the Russians deployed parts of the Russian Guard, which provide counterintelligence and police regime, as well as military units that are directly involved in hostilities.
This was the reason that the waterways and the coast were mined, because the enemy is aware that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing a large-scale counteroffensive, which will begin in the coming months.
Recall that on March 7, Ukrainians were warned about the threat from the Zaporozhye direction. According to SBU Colonel Roman Kostenko, Russian troops in the Zaporozhye direction are forming reserves for the offensive, although the main enemy forces are in the Donetsk region.
