The European Union said that the Russian Federation should stop the aggressive war against Ukraine, completely and unconditionally withdraw all its armed forces and military equipment and begin to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The European Union, as well as North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway have called on Russia to withdraw its troops from the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and return control over it to Kiev. This is stated on the website of the EU.
“The EU and its member states will never recognize Russia’s attempt to illegally seize the ZNPP. We urge Russia to withdraw its military equipment and all its personnel, including Rosatom personnel, from the ZNPP and return its full control to its rightful owner, Ukraine,” the message says.
The statement also recalled that since the start of the war, the EU has provided Ukraine with almost 53 million euros in the form of assistance related to nuclear safety, of which 5.6 million euros through the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The European Union noted that the Russian Federation must stop the aggressive war against Ukraine, completely and unconditionally withdraw all its armed forces and military equipment and begin to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
In addition, according to CNN, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said that the power outage at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Ukraine should serve as another reminder of the dangerous situation that has developed at the facility.
“If we let this go on over and over again, then one day our luck will run out,” he said.
He noted that the IAEA and Europe must take responsibility right now and show Russia that concrete action is needed on its part.
“This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe … And what are we doing? How can we sit here in this room and let this happen? This cannot continue,” Grossi said.
Recall that earlier Energoatom announced that the Zaporizhzhya NPP was completely de-energized due to missile strikes by the RF Armed Forces. The company warns that if external power to the station is not resumed within a certain time, an accident with radiation consequences for the whole world may occur. As of 6.30, according to the Ministry of Energy, shelling of energy facilities in seven regions of Ukraine was recorded.
In addition, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal assessed the risks resulting from the blackout of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. 49 states applied to the IAEA Board of Directors demanding that Russia leave the Zaporozhye NPP.
We also recall that on March 9, the Russian Federation carried out another massive shelling of Ukraine with rockets. Focus has collected in one material everything that is known about it. Thus, the Russians launched 81 missiles of various bases in the direction of Ukraine, including hypersonic “Daggers”. In Kyiv, two people were injured, three more sought medical help, and there are civilian casualties in the Lviv region.
