According to Richard Dannat, the commander of the Joint Group of Forces in Ukraine of Russia Valery Gerasimov and the top military leadership of Russia can remove the Russian leader from the presidential chair.
With a successful counter-offensive operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the power of Russian President Vladimir Putin may noticeably weaken. This was stated on March 5 by the former head of the British General Staff, General Richard Dannat, in an interview with Sky News.
“I would like to think that if the Ukrainian counter-offensive is well enough planned, supported and executed that Putin will not be in a position to make too many decisions on his own. And I think that if his army falls apart and runs, it is quite likely that that he will be swept out of the Kremlin,” Dannat said.
If Kyiv gets more heavy tanks from Germany and the US soon, as well as fighter jets and other necessary weapons, the war could end as early as this year, the British general said.
“Honestly, I don’t think we have done enough. We must do everything in our power to ensure the end of the war this year,” Dannat said.

The former head of the British General Staff noted that the military leadership of Russia is dissatisfied with Putin’s actions, therefore, it is likely that they will have a hand in ensuring that the Russian president loses power.
“Russian high command doesn’t like that Putin has entered a war they don’t agree with. I think it will be Gerasimov [глава Генштаба РФ] and the top generals who will push Putin out. And you also have to ask the question that everyone asks: if it’s not Putin in the Kremlin, then who will it be? To be honest, I don’t know the answer to this question. But I would say that, in my opinion, the group of leaders who are most unhappy in Russia at the moment are the top generals,” Dannat said.
Recall, on March 2, retired US Marine Corps Colonel Mark Kantsian said that the West needs to solve the problem with large-scale supplies of ammunition to Ukraine so that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can successfully liberate another part of the occupied territory.
Earlier, on February 28, The Associated Press wrote that the northeastern front could become decisive for the next stage of the war in Ukraine,
We also recall that on January 24, Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov acknowledged the failure of mobilization in Russia and said that modern Russia had never known such intensity of hostilities in its history.
