Belarusian journalists denied propaganda allegations that the Russian AWACS aircraft A-50 “is safe, unharmed and is serving in the usual mode.”
The Russian AWACS aircraft A-50, which was damaged during an explosion at the airfield in Machulishchi on February 26, was sent for repair to the 325th Aviation Repair Plant, which is part of the Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex named after G. M. Beriev. The Belarusian media “Zerkalo” writes about this.
The journalist of the publication contacted the reception of the TANTK them. G. M. Beriev under the guise of a worker at the Machulishchi airfield, where they confirmed that they received an A-50 aircraft with tail number 43, which arrived from Belarus.
The aircraft manufacturing company provided several phone numbers, but the journalists could not get through to any of them. No further information was provided at the reception.
Thus, the media refuted the words of propagandists that the Russian AWACS aircraft A-50, which was in Machulishchi, allegedly “is intact, unharmed and is serving in the usual mode.” The press service of Alyaksandr Lukashenka also claimed that the A-50 accompanied “aircraft number 1” during landing.
What happened in Machulishchi
On the morning of February 26, the Belarusian Telegram channel “Motolkopomogi” reported that explosions were heard at a military airfield in the village of Machulishchi. It was noted that the specified airfield is used by the RF Armed Forces for delivering strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
The Belarusian project BYPOL, citing data from the participants in the Peramoga plan, stated that a Russian A-50 early warning and control aircraft was blown up in Machulishchi.
According to the organization, two explosions damaged the middle and central parts of the aircraft, as well as avionics and a radar antenna.
Later, the Head of BYPOL Alexander Azarov clarified that Belarusian partisans were involved in the sabotage at the airfield in Machulishchi. According to him, the attack was carried out with the help of drones, and the partisans themselves are already in a safe place outside of Belarus.
The Ministry of Defense of Belarus denies information about the damage to the aircraft. As evidence of the “intactness” of the board, the department published a video in which the A-50 aircraft moves in the twilight along the runway.
