In 2019, Mini introduced the all-electric Cooper SE hatchback, and now a convertible has debuted. True in limited quantities, only 999 copies will be released.
Technically, the convertible is completely unified with the Mini Cooper SE electrohatch. Front wheel drive, 181 hp electric motor and 32.6 kWh battery.
The power reserve is 201 km on the WLTP cycle, by the way, this is 30 km less than that of the hatchback, all due to aerodynamic drag and the increased weight of the convertible. Acceleration to 100 km / h – 8.2 seconds.
In terms of dimensions, the electric Mini is almost completely comparable to a three-door hatch with a classic internal combustion engine (3863 mm – length, 1727 mm – width, 160 liters – trunk volume).
The exterior design of the Cooper SE is hard to distinguish from the classic Mini Hatch, only dedicated fans will notice the higher ground clearance, larger wheel arches and sills.
Naturally, a convertible feature is also a folding soft top, which can be raised or lowered at speeds up to 30 km / h.
The car will only be available in two colors: black and silver. But a wide range of options and equipment is offered, including signature wheel designs and soft Nappa leather seat upholstery. Even on the body and in the cabin there is a marking of the serial number of the car from a limited number (1/999).
Production of the Mini Cooper SE electric convertible will begin in April, with all vehicles destined for the European market only. The price, for example, in the UK is 52,500 pounds.
Interestingly, before the February events of last year, an electric Mini hatchback was also supposed to start being sold in Russia. But then all plans were thwarted.
By the end of 2023, a completely new generation of Mini Cooper should debut.
