At Mercedes, we rationalize by reducing the number of models. This is why the new CLE coupe which has just been photographed in camouflage will replace the E-Class coupe but also the C-Class coupe.
A new coupe name will see the light of day at Mercedes, it is the CLE which will replace the E-Class and C-Class coupes. This model will also exist in a convertible version which will also replace the E-Class and C-Class convertibles. But that’s not for now as the Mercedes CLE coupe and convertible won’t go into production until summer 2023.
Although the camouflage interferes with understanding the design of this car, we realize that the lines are more fluid, less abrupt than those of the current E-Class coupe.
Based on the technical basis of the new Mercedes E-Class, this Mercedes CLE coupe should also take over the engines. As the new Mercedes E-Class (expected in the spring of 2023) should not renew its plug-in hybrid diesel, the CLE coupé and cabriolet will be content with petrol and diesel units with micro-hybridization and a plug-in hybrid petrol offer with electric autonomy which should be around 100 km.
There will be hybridization for all the engines of this coupe, whether they are micro-hybrid or rechargeable hybrid.
On board, there should be change with a large vertical tablet with OLED technology for infotainment like on the S-Class whose slab displays 12.8 inches (32.5 cm) diagonally. The instrumentation will also be entrusted to a digital panel, 12.3 inches. It will receive “eye tracking” technology, a real three-dimensional effect which adapts (thanks to the presence of two cameras placed under the slab) to the position of the driver’s eyes. Finally, the Mercedes CLE Coupé will be full of driving aids and should see progress in its autonomous driving devices.
The interior of this model which for the moment is impossible for us to see should take up elements of the furniture of the Mercedes S-Class with regard to digital screens.
