In the phase of transition from thermal to electric, for many brands, diesel is the first victim. But on the side of BMW, it is not yet a question of cleaning up the supply of diesel watering blocks!
Example with the new 4 Series Cabriolet: already offered in 420d 190 hp and 430d 286 hp, it is about to receive an even more powerful diesel version. This is the M440d Drive. This model receives a strong 340 hp inline six cylinder. The maximum torque is 700 Nm. It takes just 5.0 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km / h.
As the name suggests, the M440d xDrive has all-wheel drive. The engine is associated with an 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox. As standard there is an M Sport differential. This engine is equipped with a 48 volt micro-hybridization. Enough to lower emissions by a few grams.
Depending on the equipment, CO2 emissions vary from 157 to 172 g / km. This is obviously the big interest of diesel! The M440i petrol equivalent (with 374 hp) evolves from 177 to 192 km. The M440d will therefore limit damage in terms of penalties. The price for the French market is not yet known.
Another technical change for the start of the school year at BMW: the X1 and X2 18d, with a 150 hp diesel engine, now automatically have the 8-speed Steptronic gearbox.
