The carpooling specialist is adding a string to its bow, that of auto insurance. With its new offer, produced in partnership with Olivier and open to all (and not only to users of the platform), BlaBlaCar promises very competitive prices. Different formulas are on the menu, from “essential third party” to “all risks”.
The insurance is accompanied by a smartphone application that aims to help drivers improve their driving. He is a kind of digital coach, by the way called “BlaBlaCar Coach”. Launched at the start of the trip, the application analyzes driving habits, behaviors during the trip and observed distractions.
At the end, she provides recommendations for more responsible driving behavior. The good point is that drivers who engage in this process will benefit from a reduction in the annual cost of their insurance.
BlaBlaCar recalls that carpooling is already favorable to road safety. According to a survey that the company had carried out in 2015, 80% of users of its service believe that carpooling encourages them to respect the Highway Code more strictly. 59% say they respect speed limits more when they have passengers on board.
